As an introduction to the kinnah about the Asarah Harugei Malchus, we discuss the Holocaust rescue efforts of Mike Tress. In a time when money meant more Jewish lives, Mike became a poor man funneling all of his savings toward Agudah expenses. He, and those who he inspired, worked round the clock to get more documents to save more Jews. They made appeals, filled out paperwork, and pursued any avenue they good in order to secure visas for Jews—no matter what it took, whether for entire yeshivos or for individual families. The secret of Agudah's success was their tears-the heartfelt, burning desire to save their brothers, and the pain at the thought that they were not doing enough. |
