7 - Vayeishev - Yehuda & Tamar, The Birth of Royalty- Fourth Aliyah
Speaker:   Hauer, Rabbi Moshe
Series: Weekly Parsha Shiur, 5773 - Parsha Plan
Lecture Details:  In the fourth aliyah of Parshas Vayeishev, we learn about the relationship of Yehuda and Tamar, which produced the ancestors of royalty. A proper king is there to serve the community, worrying and caring about others with a focus on giving. This sense of responsibility is developed in Yehuda through this story, when he claims the guilt for Tamar's pregnancy. Yosef gains this leadership quality through his experiences in Mitzrayim. A king can suitably feel the privilege of leadership when he feels the responsibility of the community along with it.
