When a person brings a korban, they are offering the animalistic part of themselves to Hashem. A person should strive to channel all of his desires heavenward, so that he is not a divided between following spiritual pursuits sometimes, and giving into physical pursuits at other times. Yom Kippur and Purim seem to focus on these two extremesYom Kippur, on cleansing us spiritually, and Purim, joyously celebrating that our physical lives were saved. A person can use the day of Purim to offer their physical selves to Hashem, achieving the same purpose as a korban, even without the Beis Hamikdash.
