Lecture Details: |
Tefillah is compared to ketores (incense), which plays a critical role. It can neutralize the tremendous power and danger that comes along with Hashem resting His presence among us. There are many fundamental matters contained in the essence of the ketores, which are expressed through the two different times when Bnei Yisroel accepted the Torah, both at Matan Torah, and later, in the days of Mordechai and Esther. The fragrant ketores also invokes the one sense that was not corrupted by the sin of the Etz Hadaas, and gives a person the ability to connect to Hashem as if the chet (sin) did not happen. We want our tefillah to be like ketores, giving us the ability to connect to Hashem in this manner. |
