Tefillah - Lech Lecha - Calling in the Name of Hashem
Speaker:   Hauer, Rabbi Moshe
Series: Weekly Parsha Shiur, 5767: Tefillah
Lecture Details:  When Avraham travels to Canaan, he builds a mizbeach and calls out in the name of Hashem. This is an expression of tefillah which characterizes the exact opposite of what the people around him were trying to do. The people wanted to establish a name for themselves, separating themselves from Hashem and His mastery over them. However, Avraham specifically called out in the name of Hashem, expressing his complete subordination to Him. When we daven, we must recognize our complete vulnerability in the face of Hashem's ultimate power, and call out in His name, showing our total reliance on Him.
